Environment Centre Aalborg

Environment Centre Aalborg is the regional office of the Danish Ministry of the Environment. The centre is responsible for planning for the Habitats- and the Water Framework Directives, monitoring and surveys of nature and water resources. The SPARC project is conducted as a partnership lead by the Environment Centre Aalborg and with participation of the municipalities of Aalborg and Rebild and Buderupholm State Forest District. Our project focuses on two of the most important river basins in North Jutland, the Lindenborg river basin and the Halkær river basin.

Ringkøbing-Skjern Kommune

Ringkøbing-Skjern Kommune is the largest municipality in Denmark covering 1,489 square kilometre and with about 58,000 inhabitants. It is situated at the west coast of Jutland. The municipality is among other things authority for nature, environment and local planning. The project includes the Ganer River and the Omme River. Vejle Municipality is also a part of the Omme River project.

City of Langenhagen

The city of Langenhagen has bought some 7 hectares of cropland within the river meadow of the Wietze-stream, in order to restore it to its natural ecological function. Several villages and the Hanover airport, which lies within the borderlines of Langenhagen, depend on the correct water regime of the Wietze. Basic principles like hydrology, nature conservation, agriculture and recreation will therefore be put into consideration when restoring the land.

Institute for Geo- and Bioarchaeology

The Institute for Geo- and Bioarchaeology is a multidisciplinary research group applying analytical methods from the Earth and Life Sciences to archeological problems and questions. Research is grouped in four themes, namely Archaeometry and Materials Sciences, Landscape Archaeology, Prospective Archaeology, and Heritage Policy and Conservation. Furthermore, the Institute provides teaching for the BSc and MSc courses in Geoarchaeology.
